Heat Embossed Tags

Heat Embossed Tags

Heat Embossed Tags.

I am new to Heat Embossing but from what I’ve done I think I am going to like it a lot.

These were really easy to do and so much fun. I made these for the bake sale to have tags on the boxes of cupcakes. I thought they would be cute and I can write the name of the cake on the back of the tag and emboss it.

Items you need:
Stamp of your choice
Versamark ink pad
Embossing powder
Heat tool (be careful kiddos)
Tags measuring 1 and 3/4 X 3
Hole Punch
Ribbon or bakers twine

Cut your paper to the size above or you can cut any size you like.

Using a corner rounder, round the corners, punch a hole in the center.

Using the powder dab it onto to you tag to remove the oils and static from the paper.

Select your stamp and ink it up in the versamark ink. This is a clear ink but you can see the stamped image.

Pick the color of embossing powder and pour it onto the stamped image.

Pat off the excess and place it back into the container. Your image is now on the tag. Do Not touch the image it will wipe away.

Using your heat tool gently heat up the powder until it changes to a glossy color.

Congratulation you just made an embossed tag.

Let me know if you have any questions or need help with embossing. I’m still new at it but I think together we can learn a lot about it and make all kinds of things with it.

Make a Rosette

Check out the video on how to make an easy Rosette. These are great for bags and cards.

Making a Rosette

I purchased this tool at Hobby Lobby awhile ago and it makes making Rosettes so easy. It was $19.99 but I used my 40% off coupon to save some money. You can also find it at Michael’s. For making these you can use any size length you want. I would suggest if you make any over 2 inches wide x 6 inches long you add one more sheet of paper. For example: the instructions say you need 3 pieces of paper or cardstock to make a rosette and then you use the machine to crimp them and then put them together. They don’t give you any measurements but I tried it with 6 inch long and 12 inch long. If you do 1.5 X 6 you will need 3. If you do 2.5 X 6 you will need 4. you can also do 1.5 X 12 all the way up to 6 x 12 or 6 x 6. For questions please leave a comment below.

Making an Easy Rectangle Box

Making an EASY Rectangle Box

This is a very easy box to make and you don’t need a lot of tools.

What you need:

  • 12 x 12 piece of cardstock
  • score board and score tool
  • scissors
  • adhesive (glue or double-sided tape)
  • ribbon, punch, stamps, ink (for decorating)

This box takes about 5 to 10 mins to make.

Score on 1 side at 2, 5, 7, 10

turn the paper 90 degrees and score at 2 and 10.

Cut the small squares that make up the tabs. Miter just a little on each one.

Add adhesive and close the tabs making it into a box. Once done, decorate. It’s super easy.

Check out my YouTube video on how to make the box.

Making an Easy Rectangle Box

Making a Muffin Box

I am hosting a bake sale on April 28th for No Kid Hungry and I wanted to make my own cupcake, cookie, muffin and candy boxes and bags and after searching the internet and finally finding something on Pinterest I tried it and I didn’t like it enough to make dozens of them so I tweaked it a bit and found a way to make it work so I could make a lot of them. It’s pretty simple and doesn’t take too much time to make 1.

What you need:

  1. 2 pieces do Cardstock
  2. Cutting Tool
  3. Score Board
  4. Glue
  5. Sticky tape
  6. Scissors
  7. Cuttlebug (optional)
  8. Circle or scalloped edge Die (optional)
  9. Astatate (optional)

How to make it:

Measure and cut your cardstock first. The first piece is measured at 9×9, the second one is 5×5 and the third one is 4×4.

Take the first piece and score it at 3 inches and 6 inches, turn the cardstock 90 degrees and score it again at 3 inches and 6 inches. Place it to the side. Grab your 5×5 piece and score it 1 inch on all four sides. That means you will have to turn the cardstock 90 degrees 3 times to score it on all 4 sides. With the 4×4 piece of cardstock score it at 1/2 inch on all 4 sides doing the same thing you did for the 5×5 piece.

You now have a Base, Lid and muffin holder.

Fold and burnish all the score lines on all 3 pieces.

Optional: If you want the lid and the muffin holder to be open follow this next step. If not, please skip this step.

To make the opening for the lid and muffin holder you must have a Cuttlebug, Big Shot, Gemini or punch. The width of the punch can be any size but if you want it to be like the one I make you will need one that is at least 2 3/4 wide. You can use anything you want. I chose to use a scalloped edge 2 3/4 inch die. Place your die on the center of the lid and cut it out. Do the same for the muffin holder. Make sure they are centered and it does not cross any of the score lines. If they do it will not fold correctly.

After cutting them out you can now begin to cut them. Let’s start with the muffin holder. Cut up the small squares but only until you meet the crossing score line and miter the edges. Do not cut across the score line.

Set this one aside. Grab your lid. The 5×5 piece of cardstock. Cut up the squares and miter the edges. Again, do not cross the score line. Cut right up to it.

You should have something like the picture above. Now grab the 9×9 piece of cardstock and your scissors again and this time make sure you cut everything the same way. Cut up the score line to the corner box and then miter it. Miter the edge as well and then cut off 1 inch from the bottom of the square. Repeat this step for all 4 corners. See photo below. Do not cross the score line.

Your cardstock should look like the above photo.

If you chose to use make the lid and bottom open then you will need 1 piece of 3×3 acetate. Using glue dots is the easiest for acetate. Place one on each corner. If you do not have glue dots simple use your score tape and place it as close to the edge as possible.

Place the acetate on the bottom of the lid like so:

Then put your lid together. Put your muffin holder together the same way. Make sure all the edges are straight.

Lets move on to the base. Add your score tape to the 4 squares you cut and make sure to put it all the way to the edge. Like so.

Now lets put the box together.

Place the muffin holder inside, it will be tight so be gentle.

Add your lid and decorate. You have just made a Muffin Box holder.

I only had a large muffin to see if worked and it did it was just a little large. A natural size muffin will fit perfectly inside the box. You can use it for cupcakes too. If you want to you can take the muffin holder out and place cookies or candy inside. I think these will be really cute and I will have the ingredients on the bottom with a sticker and a name of the muffin hanging from the top of the lid.

It’s going to be really nice and I’m looking forward to helping the kids in this country who are going without.

If you would like to donate to the cause feel free to reach out to me and I’ll send you my website to donate.

Thank you for making the muffin box with me. My next one will be a bag my husband and I came up with together. I think you will love it. I will post a video on it Thursday. If you want me to make a video on this one let me know and I’ll be happy too.

Losing a loved one

For 10 years we have had a special pet in our home. She was tiny but mighty. Her name was Penney and she was a Parakeet. We lost her on March 1, 2018 around 1:45am to be exact.

Things were fine and she was her usual cheerful self all week and then I noticed her holding up her right leg on Wednesday and at first I thought she stretched it too much because she would always stretch when I came in to see her in the mornings and we’d chat for a few minutes and I’d feed and water her and tell her I was going in the craft room to work and would come see her in a bit. I kept hearing her flap her wings so I went back in to check on her. I asked if she was ok and of course she didn’t answer me but I noticed she was holding up her leg still so I called my husband and he told me to call the vet so I did. When I called them they were not able to get her in until Thursday 3-1-18 until 5:15 pm. I said it would be fine. I went back to working and she kept flapping her wings so I kept checking on her.

Within a few hours and me constantly going in there she took a very drastic turn. She was no longer standing on either foot and she seemed to be laying in a ball or using her mouth to climb around her cage. My husband had gotten home and we called any and every vet we could find to get in to see someone. Of course NO ONE would see her because they aren’t avian vets. The only one in the area was not working until the next day so I begged them to please call her and ask her what to do? They were not able to but told me to call first thing in the morning. I told them I didn’t think she would make it through the night, she was going down hill super fast. Sadly I was right. we checked on her ever 15 minutes or so and we loved on her and told her we loved her so much and I was so sorry she was in pain and I wish I could help her.

I couldn’t sleep that night. The thought of her suffering was weighing heavy on me and making me feel worse and worse. I cried and was scared for her. I went up to see her at 1:45am and she was gone. My sweet baby girl had passed away and was no longer suffering.

After researching and looking at any and all websites we had discovered many things. Did you know birds hide if they are sick so other animals wont try to hurt them? I didn’t know house birds did that but she could have been sick for a month and we never knew. She could have had a tumor on her kidney. We just don’t know.

We have had 3 Parakeets and they all have passed now. When I moved to Oklahoma I had Petey. I had had him for many years and then he started acting different and was also holding up his foot and I took him the vet and they couldn’t diagnose him with anything because he was so small. That may have happened to Penney too, I will never know. Paulie we lost 3 years ago. We never even saw him act different. We had gotten Penney and Paulie together and they were less than a year old.

My house is quiet now. No more singing in the mornings and I miss her so much. Going up to my craft room is really hard because I would always hear her and talk with her. She would constantly whistle and it was the prettiest thing to hear. I miss her so much. It is really hard to go about normal life without her. I am trying too but it is a struggle.

It’s funny how much your pets can become your children. They become so special and you enjoy having them around you. For me it’s a comfort. It’s like having small children in the house and I love it.

We are talking about getting another one but I am not ready yet. I guess we will see as time heals.
